Durov uses Fragment, a premium subscription payment service, where users can pay for purchases using TON tokens.

Although Telegram is not directly involved in the development of the TON ecosystem, it remains interested in the network. One example is the creation of Fragment, an auction blockchain platform for trading collectible usernames.

It started operations on October 26 last year. In March, Telegram’s @Wallet bot added support for the stablecoin Tether USD (USDT); before that, the Messenger Bot wallet only supported Bitcoin (BTC) and TON.

Telegram has also launched a new Wallet Pay service for payments using Bitcoin, the TON cryptocurrency and the USDT stablecoin. The new tool can be integrated into any bot or service on Telegram, allowing users to pay in three cryptocurrencies through the messaging interface.
